Back To School Time!
Who can forget the excitement of starting school?! From socializing on the school bus, to opening a fresh pack of crayons, back-to-school time can be a time to create great memories and excitement about learning!
Tips for Kindergarten Success!
-
Create a “tomorrow” drawer, cubby, or corner where your children can keep everything school related, so they never lose it! Backpacks, empty lunch bags, shoes, etc. can go there and (hopefully) won’t be misplaced!
-
Help your child plan what they will wear the night before. This will save time and headaches on school mornings!
-
Sit down with your children and create a list of goals for the school year! Brainstorm things you and your child hope to accomplish, such as counting to 100, being able to spell their name, mastering the alphabet, etc. Hang it up on the refrigerator or somewhere in the house for easy accessibility, do periodic check-ins to see the progress! At the end of the year, you can both go through the list and see what they were able to complete.
The Wheels on the Bus Music Activity
The Wheels on the Bus is a classic song for children of all ages! Passing down the tradition of learning this song can be a lot of fun and a great bonding experience! You can write down or print out the lyrics for you and your child to follow while listening to the music. After listening to the song a few times, encourage your child to sing along as best as they can! This will be a song they can sing on the bus and in school.
You can also borrow The Wheels on the Bus book from the library. There are many versions and they have great pictures.
