Fourth of July
Everybody loves birthdays, and America’s birthday is no exception. The beautiful weather (we hope), fireworks, and family celebration traditions, make it a fun and exciting day. The festivities are a great opportunity to explain to your child the history and traditions of July 4th. There are many great books that you can read together, including: Happy July 4th Jenny Sweeney, The Story of America’s Birthday, Sweet Land of Liberty, and Fourth of July, Sparkly Sky. There are also fun art projects to decorate your celebration:
Q-Tip Fireworks
You Will Need:
• Safety scissors
• Q-Tips
• Glue
• Red, white, and blue paint
• Black or dark construction paper
Directions:
1. Have your child cut Q-Tips into random lengths with safety scissors.
2. Arrange the Q-Tips in the shape of fireworks on the construction paper.
3. One by one dip the ends of the Q-Tips in the red, white or blue paint.
4. Glue the painted Q-Tips onto the paper.
