PCHP Intern Christina Experiences PCHP's Annual Conference
I started interning at PCHP in January of 2018 and I have loved every second of it! This year, I was able to participate in the PCHP Annual Conference and really enjoyed my time.
Being new to the PCHP family allowed me to have a different perspective than the others present at the conference. I was able to see the intricate connections between so many different groups of people, from areas all around the globe.
My job over the two days was to take pictures, observe the different workshops, and just be on hand if anyone needed me. I really loved the keynote speaker for the second day of the conference, Dr. Elizabeth A. Isakson, as she was very interactive with the audience and had everyone play a fun game called Kerplunk. I enjoyed stopping into each workshop and learning a little bit about each person’s specialty. The way everyone was able to open up so easily and voice their opinions or problems was a key aspect of each talk. Each speaker was there to trouble shoot and help solve the problems of the attendees. At times, other attendees would also speak up if they either had the same problem or if they had an innovative strategy to share. Being able to work together in these setting was very beneficial to all of the attendees.
In addition, the speakers leading the workshops were knowledgeable and allowed the sessions to run themselves as conversation about each topic took off. The conversations taking place in each room were highly involved and very educational for everyone.
The entire experience was so heartwarming, seeing people meet for the first time in real life after communicating through emails, or watching friends greet each other after not seeing one another for a year. The bonds between all of the people at the conference were incredible and seeing different groups of people come together for the same goals is so inspiring. It was wonderful knowing so many people want to make a change in the world.
Thank you PCHP for all you’ve done and all you will continue to do in our communities.
