The training of new ParentChild+ Coordinators is comprised of three phases:
Phase 1, Orientation to Program Implementation:
Workshop is designed for new Coordinators that are unfamiliar with the ParentChild+ model, including outside hires and startup ParentChild+ sites (two sessions, approx. 6 hours total).
Phase 2, The Intensive Foundational Training:
Approximately 30 hours of intensive, interactive learning about the ParentChild+ home visiting model over a two-week period. There are nine (9) additional training hours for the Home-Based Child Care model. New Coordinators should also plan for the following commitments as a part of the overall orientation and onboarding process with the National Center during their first year overseeing the program:
- Asynchronous, online Elevate classes and reading materials (approx. 12 hours before or during the Training Institute).
- Asynchronous DAISY Management Information System training within two weeks of the Training Institute (approx. 2-3 hours).
- Assessment training: ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 for the child-level questionnaire for all sites (6 hours). Your site will either do PICCOLO or PIEL (not both) for family-level assessments. Additional HBCC assessment training may be provided.
Phase 3, Bi-weekly Community of Practice:
Meetings with other trained Coordinators (approx. 24-36 hours annually. These are bi-weekly meetings of cohorts of New Coordinators recommended to meet for approximately 7-9 months after the intensive foundational training to support program implementation questions as they occur and to share strategies and ideas amongst each other.
- At this point, Coordinators are invited to State Director-led meetings with other sites in your region (approx. 12-18 hours annually)
- Additional professional development and enrichment opportunities, as provided by the National Center (ex: annual conference, other CoPs or technical assistance supports, etc.).
- Other professional development resources may be recommended to Coordinators, as needed.
