Endless Possibilities Require a Strong Department of Education
At ParentChild+, we are deeply concerned by the current proposal to dismantle the United States Department of Education. For more than four decades, the Department has played a vital role in ensuring that all children—regardless of where they live—have access to the resources and support needed to thrive in school and beyond.
Our mission at ParentChild+ is to partner with families and communities to ensure every child has an equal possibility to succeed. High-quality early childhood programs, including home visiting initiatives often supported by Title I funds, are essential to building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. However, these programs do not exist in isolation. They rely on a well-resourced, equitable education system to help children reach graduation and pursue their full potential.
The Department of Education has been a cornerstone in fostering that system—providing critical funding and protections that uplift under-resourced communities across urban, suburban, and rural areas. Eliminating this support would create unnecessary barriers for generations of children, weakening the workforce and leadership of tomorrow.
While political landscapes may shift, ParentChild+’s commitment to advancing educational equity remains unwavering. We will continue to partner with families, communities, and policymakers to break down barriers to opportunity and ensure that every child is ready to enter their first classroom, graduate, and succeed. Together, we will keep working toward creating equal possibilities from the very start.
