Julian Gomez J.D. Returns to the ParentChild+ Board of Directors
MINOELA, NY, August 18, 2022 – ParentChild+ is pleased to announce the reelection of Julian Gomez to its Board of Directors. Gomez previously served on the board for seven years before moving abroad with his family. ParentChild+ Board President Jim Molloy enthusiasm at Gomez’s return, spoke for the entire organization, “We are absolutely thrilled to have Julian rejoin the ParentChild+ Board of Directors. He has always been a great friend and tremendous advocate; his insights and perspective have provided immense value in the past. The organization and the families we work with are fortunate to be able to benefit from his positive impact on both our work and culture moving forward.”
Gomez is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at the Sojitz Corporation of America, part of the Sojitz Group, a multi-national corporation with operations throughout the world. He has worked with the company since 2008, in both the New York and Tokyo offices. He previously was an associate at Proskauer Rose, one of New York’s largest law firms.
Gomez and his family have uniquely strong ties to ParentChild+. Long before he began his professional career, Gomez participated in the Westchester, NY ParentChild+ site, run by Westchester Jewish Community Services, as a toddler with his mother. He credits their involvement in the program with making him a more confident learner and helping to situate education as a priority, changing the trajectory of his life and his family’s lives.
Gomez went on to attend Cornell University to earn his B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations. He then earned his J.D. from Pace University School of Law, and began his legal career.
Gomez first joined the ParentChild+ Board of Directors in 2006. His first-hand experience in the program, combined with his legal background, equipped him with a unique outlook that was very much valued by the Board. During his first tenure on the Board, he served on the Board Development committee. His enthusiasm for the program helped spread ParentChild+’s mission by supporting expansion to reach more children and families in under-served and often neglected communities. Gomez is excited to be back on the Board, saying “I am honored to have the opportunity to rejoin the Board of Directors of ParentChild+. Together with my colleagues on the board and the dedicated staff of this organization, we will continue the work to provide equal opportunities for the children and parents in communities where this assistance is needed the most.”
Gomez has served on a number of boards, including transportation industry boards, as well as staying rooted in his community by serving on the Westchester Jewish Community Services Board, where his connection to ParentChild+ began.
