Young learners graduate from Miss Ruby’s Kids

Sixteen young learners, decked out in their best outfits, recently had their first opportunity to walk across the stage for graduation.

Miss Ruby’s Kids, a nonprofit organization that works with families to help 2- and 3-year-old children get ready for school with its parent-student-home program, held its annual graduation ceremony May 6.
“We are really proud of the families for their commitment,” said Kristen Laga, executive director of Miss Ruby’s Kids. “We are also proud of our literacy coaches who are the backbone of what we do.”

Miss Ruby’s Kids’ literacy program is modeled after the National Parent-Child Home Program.
It serves families of more than 150 children in Georgetown County through its three programs, the Parent-Child Home Program, Family Childcare Program and Education Mentor Program.
Graduates were Royalty Anderson, Kah’Layia Elmore, Qui’Monte Nesmith, Zaiedyn Saulters, Malayah Greggs, Nashawn Smalls, Latrell Davis, Maliyah Greene, A’Von Porcher, Princess Herrera, Jayden Duncan, ZaRihana Windley, Jamaria Armstrong, Amiya Brown, Zachary McBride and A’Dyn Gray-Reed. Read more
