"Bright Spot" Programs
The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is a 10-year effort by foundations to move the needle on third grade reading proficiency and address the developmental and academic targets that children need to reach to be successful. The work will promote policies that lead to better coordination and alignment of services, improve instruction and evaluation, and tackle obstacles to achievement, such as chronic absence and summer learning loss.
The campaign aims to make grade-level reading proficiency for all children by the end of third grade a national priority.

“Bright Spot” Programs
The Campaign also highlights “Bright Spots” in education. “Bright Spot” programs are as imaginative and diverse in their approaches as the challenges they tackle are complex, but they are united by a common goal: increasing the number of low-income children who succeed in school. They range from hands-on programs in classrooms, homes, community centers and early education centers to research initiatives that analyze what really works at scale. While Bright Spots programs may be local, regional or national in scope, all are rigorous in data tracking and all have shown results. Parent-Child Home Program was selected as a “Ready for School, Prepared to Learn” program.
