The Parent-Child Home Program Selected as Finalist for Root Cause’s 2011 Social Innovation Forum
Root Cause’s Social Innovation Forum has named 26 nonprofit organizations as finalists competing for five awards cash and in-kind services valued at over $100,000
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS—The Social Innovation Forum, an initiative of the nonprofit research and consulting firm Root Cause, has selected The Parent-Child Home Program as one of 26 innovative, results-oriented nonprofit organizations in Greater Boston competing to receive access to an estimated $109,000 in cash and capacity-building services. An evaluation committee made up of more than 60 social issue experts from the business, government, and nonprofit sectors reviewed over 130 applications to select the finalists. In the end, the Social Innovation Forum will select just one Social Innovator in each of the following five social issue areas: early childhood development, educational and employment opportunities for vulnerable youth, financial capability, healthy aging, and grade school academic success. The five Social Innovators will be announced and celebrated at an evening event in Cambridge on Tuesday, December 7th.
Root Cause’s Social Innovation Forum is working in Boston to demonstrate how the nonprofit, government, and business sectors can work together to advance promising new approaches to our toughest social issues. Each year, the initiative partners with foundations and individual donors to identify and support organizations that have the potential to deliver transformative approaches to Greater Boston’s pressing social problems. The Social Innovation Forum provides those organizations with consulting and coaching support and introduces them to a community of social impact investors interested in supporting innovation with their resources of cash and in-kind donations, personal referrals or connections, and expertise.
The Parent-Child Home Program was selected for its in-depth work in Massachusetts working with families who have not had access to education and economic opportunities, preparing children for academic success and strengthening families through home visiting. The program is a finalist in the social issue track: Early Childhood Development: Giving Children and Families the Best Possible Start. The early childhood track is being sponsored by the Cabot Family Charitable Trust.
