Press Release, 10/25/16 Parent-Child Home Program to Honor Deutsche Bank at Annual Gala
New York City, New York October 25, 2016- The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is pleased to announce that they will be honoring Deutsche Bank at their 2016 Literacy Champions Gala on November 4, at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. Deutsche Bank’s corporate citizenship activities focus on encouraging community development, promoting wide access to high-quality education, and fostering economic and social mobility for disadvantaged communities.
Deutsche Bank has been supporting PCHP’s work in the Bronx, New York, through PCHP partner agency Masa, Inc., since 2013, and through PCHP partner agency, Leake and Watts, since 2016. Thanks to Deutsche Bank’s generous contributions, PCHP has been able to expand its work with both immigrant and homeless families, the most difficult to reach and most under-resourced families in New York City’s underserved communities.
PCHP CEO, Sarah Walzer, is pleased to be honoring such a wonderful supporter of PCHP and early childhood education. “We thank Deutsche Bank for their consistent and continued work. Because of them, we are able to bring PCHP to more families who we otherwise would not have been able to reach. We are grateful for their support and delighted to be honoring them at our Literacy Champions Gala, and we look forward to working together for many years to come to ensure that every child has the opportunity to start school ready to succeed.”
“We are very honored to be recognized by the Parent-Child Home Program and are proud to be working with organizations such as Masa and Leake and Watts in their efforts to support to some of New York City’s most under-served communities,” said Nicole Leach, Head of Education Programming for Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation.
The Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation has been supporting PCHP in New York City since 2013. Together, we have worked to make a difference in the lives of thousands of New York’s most underserved families.
About The Parent-Child Home Program: PCHP is a national early childhood literacy, parenting, and school readiness program. The evidence-based Program effectively bridges the achievement gap for underserved children through intensive home visiting (twice a week over a two-year period) with children ages two to four and their parents. Trained Early Learning Specialists model reading, play, and conversation activities using books and educational toys that are gifts to the family. Over five decades of research demonstrates that PCHP increases parent-child interaction, improves children’s performance on school readiness and third grade assessments, and increases high school graduation rates by 30% – to the same level as middle class students.
