NEW YORK January 2019 – The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP), a leading early childhood, school readiness organization working in 14 states and six countries, is proud to announce that the New York State Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) has awarded New York PCHP sites over three million dollars through its Public Private Partnership Program. These grants will be allocated over a four-year period to expand PCHP’s Core and Family Child Care (FCC) models in New York City and Onondaga County.

PCHP sites receiving support are Rising Ground in the Bronx, NYU Langone Health Centers in Brooklyn, and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County in Syracuse. This grant enables these sites to expand the reach of the Program to additional families and additional Family Child Care providers.

PCHP’s core model is a unique evidence-based, successfully replicated school readiness, early literacy, and parenting support program for families with children 16 months to 4 years. Trained community-based early learning specialists work one-on-one with families challenged by poverty, isolation, language and literacy barriers, and limited educational opportunities to ensure that their children enter school prepared to be successful in school and in life.

PCHP’s FCC model is an innovative professional development and enrichment approach that supports home-based care providers in their homes (building off its proven home visiting model) working with them and the children in their care. By enhancing providers’ skills through hands-on experience with enrichment materials and lots of activity ideas, PCHP FCC is supporting the establishment of a network of high-quality family child care providers, who will support the school readiness of many additional children who move through their care, significantly extending the Program’s reach and impact for many years to come.

As the Public Private Partnership Program requires a private match, we are grateful to all of our private donors and foundations across the state for their support. OCFS continued commitment to work with PCHP parents and children is powerful and we are grateful for their continued partnership.

Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) uses education to break the cycle of poverty for under-resourced families with young children. Through an international network of program sites, PCHP works one-on-one with families and with family child care providers to ensure children achieve their greatest potential in school and in life.
