PARENT-CHILD HOME PROGRAM WELCOMES STEPHAN OPPENHEIMER TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Parent-Child Home Program Welcomes Stephan Oppenheimer to Its Board of Directors
New York, June 6, 2016 – The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP), a leading early literacy/school readiness organization that focuses on ensuring that underserved families have the knowledge, skills, and materials to support their children’s’ language and literacy development and prepare them for school success, announced that it has welcomed Stephan Oppenheimer to its Board of Directors. Mr. Oppenheimer is the founder of Pontalba Capital, a private investment firm focused on the business services sector. With his strong background in business and leadership, Mr. Oppenheimer will help further PCHP’s reach and impact through strategic expansion and increased visibility.

Prior to joining the Parent-Child Home Program Board of Directors, Mr. Oppenheimer served on the Board of Youth Inc. and has been a long-time supporter of City Harvest.

Since 1965, PCHP has been assisting underserved communities in replicating and expanding this proven school readiness program that builds early parent-child verbal interaction and learning at home. Through twice-weekly visits by highly trained community-based Early Learning Specialists, PCHP provides families the skills, materials (books and educational toys), and support to help parents engage and teach their children. Almost 50 years of research shows that the Program effectively increases school readiness, decreases the need for special education services before grade three by 50%, and increases participants’ high school graduation rates by over 30% to the same level as their middle income peers.
